1. Scope and Definitions

This Privacy Policy applies to information processed in connection with the Services, including mobile app usage, support communications, and related website interactions. It does not govern third-party sites, products, or services that are not controlled by Solutionflare, even if linked or used in connection with Rouse.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide directly

We may collect information you provide when contacting support, sending feedback, requesting assistance, or otherwise communicating with us (for example, email address, message content, and related metadata).

2.2 Information collected automatically

We may automatically collect technical and usage data, which may include:

  • device identifiers and application identifiers;
  • device model, OS version, locale, and configuration;
  • feature interaction events, diagnostics, crash and performance signals;
  • approximate geolocation when permission is granted and relevant to a feature;
  • subscription entitlement and purchase-state signals necessary to provide premium access.

2.3 Permission-based data

Depending on your choices and device settings, the Services may request access to:

  • Alarm/notification-related permissions for alarm functionality;
  • Health data (HealthKit) for sleep-oriented features;
  • Camera for wake missions and related workflows;
  • Calendar for morning schedule and briefing features;
  • Location for weather and context-aware features.

You can modify permissions in iOS Settings at any time. Revoking permissions may limit or disable related features.

2.4 Health and sensitive data notes

Where available and authorized by you, HealthKit sleep-related data is handled within Apple's permissioned framework and ecosystem. We design Rouse to process core sleep records locally where feasible. If any sensitive data is transmitted for a feature, we limit processing to what is necessary for that feature and security/operational purposes.

2.5 Payment and transaction information

Purchases are processed by Apple, and subscription status is managed using Apple-provided records and our subscription infrastructure partners (such as RevenueCat). We do not directly receive full payment card numbers.

3. How We Use Information

We may use information to:

  • provide, maintain, personalize, and improve the Services;
  • operate alarms, mission systems, sleep and wellness features, and premium entitlements;
  • perform diagnostics, troubleshoot issues, detect abuse, and maintain security;
  • respond to support requests and communicate with users;
  • develop and evaluate new features, including AI-assisted experiences;
  • comply with legal obligations, enforce agreements, and protect rights and safety.

4. Legal Bases for Processing

Where required by applicable law (including GDPR/UK GDPR), we process information based on one or more legal bases, including consent, performance of a contract, legitimate interests, legal obligations, and protection of vital interests.

Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent by changing app/device permissions or contacting us, subject to lawful processing performed before withdrawal.

5. How and Why We Disclose Information

We may disclose information to:

  • Service providers and processors that help us operate the Services (for example, hosting, infrastructure, analytics, subscription infrastructure, and support tools);
  • Platform operators and ecosystem providers (such as Apple) as required to provide app functionality and in-app purchases;
  • Professional advisors (for example, legal, accounting, and audit providers) as reasonably necessary;
  • Law enforcement, regulators, or courts where required or permitted by law;
  • Successors and counterparties in merger, financing, reorganization, acquisition, or asset transaction contexts.

We may also disclose information to enforce Terms, investigate suspected fraud/security incidents, protect users or third parties, and defend legal claims.

We do not knowingly sell personal information for monetary consideration. We may, however, disclose information in ways that some privacy laws classify as "sharing" or targeted advertising if those laws apply and technical operations are interpreted broadly; where required, you may exercise opt-out rights as described below.

6. Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including providing the Services, maintaining records, complying with legal obligations, resolving disputes, preventing fraud/abuse, and enforcing agreements.

Retention periods depend on data type, legal requirements, and operational necessity. We may anonymize, aggregate, or de-identify data and use such data for lawful business purposes.

7. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. However, no method of transmission, storage, or processing is completely secure. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee absolute security and are not responsible for unauthorized access not caused by our willful misconduct or legal fault where limitation is allowed.

8. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed in jurisdictions that may have different data-protection laws than your own. Where required, we use legally recognized transfer mechanisms or safeguards. By using the Services, you acknowledge that cross-border processing may occur consistent with this Policy and applicable law.

9. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, restrict, object, or withdraw consent regarding your personal information. These rights are not absolute and may be limited by law.

You can also control certain data through device settings, app permissions, Health app controls, and Apple subscription settings.

To submit a rights request, contact us at [email protected]. We may need to verify identity and authority before processing requests. We may deny or limit requests where legally permitted, including where requests are repetitive, excessive, unfounded, technically infeasible, or conflict with legal/security obligations.

10. US State Privacy Notice

Residents of certain US states may have rights under state privacy laws (for example, rights to know, access, correct, delete, portability, opt out of certain processing, and non-discrimination for exercising rights). We honor applicable rights as required by law.

Categories of personal information we may process

  • Identifiers and device/application identifiers;
  • Commercial information relating to purchases and subscription status;
  • Internet/electronic activity information (usage, diagnostics, crashes, events);
  • Approximate geolocation (if permissioned and feature-dependent);
  • Support communications and related metadata.

We do not knowingly process precise geolocation or biometric identifiers for identification purposes unless explicitly stated in feature-specific disclosures and user permissions.

If you are in a jurisdiction providing appeal rights for denied requests, you may request appeal by replying to our response email.

11. Children's Privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or older threshold where required by local law), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information unlawfully, contact us so we can take appropriate action.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy at any time. Updated versions are effective when posted unless otherwise stated. Continued use of the Services after an update constitutes acknowledgment of the updated Policy.
